Hi, my name is Hong. I'm a fourth year PhD student in Linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania.Research interests
My primary interest in linguistics is using large speech corpus to understand the properties of speech sound. In addition, I'm also interested in the production of speech and their acoustic properties.
My dissertation is about speech disfluencies. To check out more, the current draft is linked here.
The topics I've touched upon include the production mechanism of nasalization, prosodic structure of Mandarin and Cantonese, tonal properties of Thai, etc. I recently started working on a project trying to understand the underlying drive for variations in speech disfluency.
